The project team of KhNADU is actively involved in the development of an interdisciplinary educational network for the development and testing of innovative approaches to sustainable development in both teaching and applied research as a contribution to the (post-war) sustainability of recovery processes within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA220-HED – Higher Education Partnerships project: Transformational Learning Network for Resilience – Assistance to Ukrainian Higher Education for the Sustainable and Resilient Reconstruction of (Post-war) Ukraine (TransLearnN), NA DAAD Project Number: 2023-1-DE01-KA220-HED-000157119.

On 11-12 April 2024, the International Conference “Regional Problems of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Nature Management” was held at the Consortium partner university (Odesa State Environmental University, Odesa, Ukraine).   The round table within the framework of the Conference “Analysis of the prerequisites for the implementation of the Concept of Sustainable Green Development in the university space” was moderated by the project team of the National Technical University (Kyiv, Ukraine). All members of the project teams of the Ukrainian partner universities were present: Ukrainian National Forestry University (Lviv); National Transport University (Kyiv); State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic” (Zhytomyr); Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University (Kharkiv); Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Mykolaiv); Odesa State Environmental University (Odesa); State Higher Educational Institution Priazovsky State Technical University (Mariupol).

The discussion focused on the European Union’s regulatory framework on the role of universities on the path to the Green Transition 2050, the state of information readiness of the broader university community and the readiness at the administrative level to implement measures that would facilitate the implementation of the recommendations of the European Association of Universities’ Green Transition Roadmap at all stages of operation. These issues are in line with the project goals of strengthening the socio-political leadership role of universities in the context of sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine; supporting Ukrainian universities on the path to sustainable university governance; and engaging students as change agents for sustainable and risk-resilient development. Professor Nataliia VNUKOVA made an analytical report on the current goals and objectives for Ukrainian universities to implement the green transition; development, improvement and implementation of the Concepts and Strategic Plans for Sustainable Development.

The moderators of the roundtable, Professors  Viktoriia KHRUTBA  and Innessa RUTKOVSKA, provided information on the results of extensive respondent surveys on this topic and noted that, in general, there is a positive trend of changes in the awareness of educators of the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy 2050 (Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy  and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Draft resolutions based on the results of the events were proposed for discussion and approved.
