On February 11, 2025, the first seminar of an educational campaign on responsible household waste management took place at the Dmytrivka Academic Lyceum “Perspektyva.” This initiative is being implemented by professors from the National Transport University in collaboration with educators from the Dmytrivska territorial community, with the support of village head Taras Tarasovych Didych.
The event brought together school principals from the community and the head of the Dmytrivska Management Company, Sabina Danchenko. The speakers were scientists from the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies at NTU: Department Head Professor Victoria Khrutba and Associate Professor Serhiy Kolomiyets. They were assisted by Dmytro Feshchenko, a student from the Department of Information-Analytical Activities and Information Security.
Seminar participants learned about:
New legislative and organizational requirements in the field of waste management
Specifics of household waste management in unified territorial communities
European sustainable development practices being implemented within the TransLearn project
Thanks to an online broadcast via ZOOM, representatives from other communities in the Kyiv region interested in addressing waste management issues were able to join the event.
This educational campaign is a pilot project that will run until June 2025. It aims to change attitudes toward the environment and promote sustainable development principles that are successfully implemented in Europe, particularly at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (Germany).
The organizers express sincere gratitude for the assistance and openness to innovation to the Education Department of the Dmytrivska territorial community and its head Victoria Babenko, as well as to the director of the Dmytrivka Lyceum “Perspektyva,” Oksana Halchuk.
“By building an environmentally friendly future today, we ensure a healthy, safe, and happy life for our children and grandchildren. We invite all concerned citizens to join our project. Together we are strong!” — concluded the event organizers.
Glory to Ukraine!
